Ulduar’s out !

So our guild has gotten 5 server first so far, and downed six bosses (we didn’t get server first on the first boss because of a bug where our characters got frozen in the instance for an hour and a half).

Anywho, today we downed Hodir, who drops the first tier 8.5 loot. Jerbo and I got the two chestpieces that dropped. Here we are!! (Yes, I realize mine is ugly)

First 8.5 on the server!

Icons, really?

Hi everyone, I know I never post anymore, but at least I charge my cell phone

I’ve been pretty stressed recently. I’ve had a lot of work due all at the same time. In fact I need to write an essay that was due two days ago now. That’s really kind of frustrating because I worked all day Friday, 5:30am-midnight Sunday, and 8am – midnight Monday (and no I’m not exaggerating) and I still didn’t get around to History. It’s ok though because I got an extension but still I feel like a slacker. And I did all the reading and seriously I feel like I can’t answer the essay question from the reading so I’m going to have to do additional research.

Anyway, applications for California schools start November 1. I’m really not sure where I’m applying. It’s nice to say “oh just apply everywhere” but there’s a $60 application fee for every place you submit to, so that’s not really an option. The problem is I’m still not sure what to major in. My top choices right now are Comparative Literature or Philosophy. Yes, I know you can’t do anything with Philsophy, but let’s be honest you can’t do much with any B.A. and I’ve really enjoyed all three Philosophy classes I’ve taken. Journalism or English is still an option too but it seems so much more appealing to me to learn about something that could give you something to write about rather than just learning how to write. What happened to art? I’m really leaning against it. Apart from the occasional photo manipulation, I’m not all that interested in creating art anymore. I still enjoy art as a genre, though.

I had two interviews last week, one at Circuit City and one at Michael’s. I totally blew the Circuit City one. It was a group interview and they split people up into sections that they would like to work in, and computers filled up really fast so they threw me in with the home entertainment people. Of course 2 of the 4 people in this group used to work at Best Buy in the home entertainment system whereas I don’t know the slightest thing about tv’s other than when you push a button pretty images omit from them. Yeah. Michael’s went exponentially better, but I’m not sure how good I am at convincing people that I’m outgoing and friendly, they said they had interviews all this week and they’ll call me back. Does that mean they hate me?

I’m considering if I can even handle a job now though. Once my late-start classes began I started dying, rapidly. I have so much work and I am spending so much time doing it and it seems I still can barely keep up. I’m putting a lot of pressure on myself because I want all A’s for you know the last semester really seen on transcripts. I can’t wait to actually get into a school so I don’t have to be perfect. Who cares if you’re fricken cum laude, it’s just an asterisk on a job resume, people mainly just want to see the degree.
Okay is that enough of an update for you. Great. See you in a few months.

My excessive tiredness is pissing me off.

That is all.

…nobody likes you when you’re 23

“And that’s about the time she walked away from me
Nobody likes you when your 23
And you still act like you’re in Freshman year
What the hell is wrong with me?
My friends say I should act my age
What’s my age again?
What’s my age again?”

- Blink 182, What’s My Age Again

Anyway, all this nonsense is in celebration of my birthday. 23. Woop.

Things you don’t actually want to know

You know what really sucks more than anything else? Not being able to eat. I finally had this cavitiy filled on Thursday that we haven’t been able to do due to the dislocated plate in my jaw, and it really screwed up my bite having my mouth forced open that long, and now my orthopedic device doesn’t fit, and I need it because I can’t bite on my back teeth without it which makes it incredibly difficult to chew (basically I have to chew with my front teeth). Also, four days later my tongue is still numb. Is that normal? So when I eat I keep accidentally biting it. It’s making eating just entirely unenjoyable. I can’t call my orthodontist because they’re in the process of relocating until 8/27 and my dentist is closed on Mondays which means I can’t do anything until Tuesday and even then they might not be able to do anything because my orthodontist is the one that has the ability to adjust the orthopedic.

woot!

Alright, a couple weeks ago I got this summons in the mail saying I had jury duty. I’ve been dreading it ever since. I’ve been coming up with grand schemes like how I can be a lesbian for a day. Hey if gay pride can get you kicked out of the military, maybe it can get you sent home from jury duty too!

Ok, but seriously, I was not looking forward to having to be at a courthouse at 8am following pointless questionnaire by pointless questionnaire. But I just checked the website, and I’m amongst the half that doesn’t have to go, wewt! Let the ongoing laziness continue!

I wrote a poem.

Makeshift curtains conceal my window, even further shrouded in dust
Which happens when interest wanes and chores are neglected
The glass panels reveal cracks and are cold upon touch
A sign that the sun has not often reflected
My way, and with age the cobwebs and soot have collected
But with a withering desire to look outward, I’ve not often objected
To the filth that has built up like an ant hill at the window sill’s base
Day by day holding the unmoved frame even firmer in place
Perhaps, if the vision through this window was not as obstructed
By smudges and grime that make even the sun’s light corrupted
I would be able to see a different story on the other side of the pane
But the surmounting rot and decay only strengthen the claim
That vision is only as clear as what is made out behind stains upon glass
And it is unlikely discernment will come before the panes corrode and collapse
Thus instead of frustrating myself deciphering a weather-stained stage
Like an over-eager archaeologist bent over a frayed manuscript page
I think I’ll continue to sit not near the window, but a good four yards away
Either way, the obscurities of night are indistinguishable from the revelations of day

Images. They make posts look like they have content.

Hello to everyone that still reads this despite the sparse and erratic nature of my posting these last several months. Well, we can ignore the erratic part because I deleted them all. Moving right along!

RE: Photo Manipulation

Click for full size. I made this in PS 7 with textures made by me and stock images. Oh, and a WoW screenshot of the moon in Shadowmoon Valley. It’s a pretty moon.

Tell me what you think.

RE: Shepard Fairey’s Orwell covers — books now on sale!

I discovered this at Boing Boing and thought it was pretty cool. Penguin Classics hired graphic artist Shepard Fairey (known for the Obey campaign) to design new book covers for the George Orwell classics Nineteen-Eighty-Four and Animal Farm.

RE: Age of Conan

I guess I better stick to dancing.

For those of you who don’t know, in May Funcom released it’s latest project, the much anticipated mmo, Age of Conan. As per usual upon release of an mmo title, the game is riddled with bugs but one I find particularly amusing. It turns out that the Age of Conan was not a time of equality of the sexes, as players have discovered that their female avatars are not dealing out the same damage as their male counterparts. A Funcom designer addressed the bug on Monday stating that,

“The main reason for the discrepancy in damage output that you’re seeing is that the length of an animation isn’t equal for both male and female characters in many cases. This is what we’re currently fixing, but there’s roughly 800 to 1000 animations in total that are involved here, and that they are significantly more ‘complex’ than the ‘white (standard) damage’ animations mentioned above this naturally takes a lot more time,” Jenset wrote. “Of course, once the length of the animations have been fully corrected/tweaked either by an animator or BCC designer then every rank (of every combo for every class) has to be rebalanced by the System Designers because, as I mentioned above, one of the factors that come into play when determining the combo damage is animation length.”
